Ray Cameron (born Thomas Cameron McIntyre; 19 April 1936 – 27 December 1993) was a Canadian comedian, and the father of British comedian Michael McIntyre. What little content we require (or can reliably source) about Cameron can be contained entirely in Michael McIntyre's article without needing a standalone biography of him as an independent topic. McIntyre was born in Merton and raised in Hampstead. His parents were both involved in showbusiness, his Canadian father, Ray Cameron, was the producer, writer and director of The Kenny Everett Television Show and his mother, Kati, was a dancer. McIntyre’s parents divorced when he was seven, after which Cameron remarried to Holly McIntyre and moved to Los Angeles. Cameron died of a heart attack when McIntyre was 17.

McIntyre was educated at the all-boys Arnold House School and attended Merchant Taylors’ School, Northwood for 3 years before moving to a state secondary school. Mcintyre later attended Edinburgh University for a year before dropping out, he has said that he cannot remember whether it was biology or chemistry that he studied while there.

Ray Cameron (born Thomas Cameron McIntyre; 19 April 1936 – 27 December 1993) was a Canadian comedian, and the father of British comedian Michael McIntyre.

Cameron was one of the writers of Kenny Everett's television shows, including The Kenny Everett Video Show, and co-creator of comedy panel game show Jokers Wild (on which he sometimes appeared as a guest comedian). He was also director and co-writer of Everett's only feature film, Bloodbath at the House of Death.[citation needed]

His son, Michael, grew up believing that Cameron had died of a heart attack. In 2010, however, McIntyre learned that his father had in fact died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, in his Hollywood apartment block, at the age of 55. His step-mother, Holly, had been forced to reveal the secret when McIntyre was planning to take part in the BBC genealogy series Who Do You Think You Are?.

In 2014, McIntyre revealed that he was 'heart broken' that the truth about his father's death was being made public by his step-mother.[1][2]
